  • Target areas for training are remote areas in the Kimberley, Pilbara, Gascoyne, Mid West and Goldfields-Esperance Regions from early 2006 to June 2007.

  • The project covers both Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities.

  • Project partners include the Regional Development Commissions from the target areas: Kimberley, Pilbara, Gascoyne, Mid West and Goldfields-Esperance, and the State Government Departments of Industry and Resources, and Education and Training.

  • The Project is managed by the Telecentre Support Branch. For further information contact the Project Coordinators Kathy Norris 9217 1450 or kathy.norris@dlgrd.wa.gov.au
The Website

The Start Free Computer Training Website:
  • was produced at a cost of less than $1,000, a fraction of the cost usually associated with this quality of product. The website was developed and is hosted with in-kind contributions of Market Creations, one of the project partners.

  • will be used to disseminate information about the Project. It will feature in publicity and promotions such as advertising, flyers, posters and media releases.

  • includes a non-public part of the website that has very useful project management tools including online evaluation forms and Training Provider Progress reports which are supported by a database.

  • database allows the Project Management to store, retrieve and interrogate information about the numbers and demographic of trainees, in order to manage the Project and report back to the funding body (DCITA).

  • allows training providers, including Kimberley TAFE, Market Creations, RAWA Community School, and Ngaanyatjarra Media to add to the website with updates on training information for their communities.
