Outer Metropolitan Community Fund
The Outer Metropolitan Community Fund (OMCF) provides financial assistance to help fund projects that encourage, promote and support the sustainable development of outer metropolitan areas of Perth. The focus of the Fund is to assist small communities within the following Local Government Areas (LGAs):
  • City of Armadale
  • Shire of Kalamunda
  • Town of Kwinana
  • Shire of Mundaring
  • City of Rockingham
  • City of Swan
  • City of Wanneroo
The primary focus is on enhancing services and capital works in areas nearer the boundary of the relevant Regional Development Commission.

The Fund will provide $2 million in this funding round. Grants will be awarded from $5,000 (minimum) up to $100,000 (maximum), dependent on the nature of each individual project and availability of funds.

Eligible applicants include: local government authorities, incorporated community organisations, volunteer organisations and philanthropic foundations.

Funding is available for project development activities. Projects may include the following up to a maximum of $100,000:
  • Community development initiatives including information services and the provision of key services.
  • Environmental, water quality and natural resource management initiatives, including where there is synergy with a Natural Heritage Trust project, or where NHT funding could not be obtained and there is a strong imperative for the project.
Projects may include the following up to a maximum of $20,000:
  • Economic development and job creation initiatives which may include feasibility studies, business and marketing plans, cost benefit analyses and economic impact studies.
  • Community Events and Festivals.
Funding is also available for capital works that provide facilities for public use up to a maximum of $100,000, such as:
  • Community facilities and infrastructure e.g. public toilets, public playgrounds (including equipment for public playgrounds and open spaces), shelter or fixed improvements for public facilities.
  • Facilities supporting children and/or youth.
  • Infrastructure which improves access to telecommunications and other technology.
  • Restoration or development of heritage buildings or sites for a community purpose.
  • Facilities or infrastructure enhancements for tourism development.
Priority will be given to projects that support at least ONE of the following:
  • Economic development and job creation
  • Increased access to services
  • Environmental improvements
  • Community development outcomes
  • Activities for children and/or youth
  • Tourism development
  • Access to technology
