General Inspectors
Within the Animal Welfare Act 2002, power is provided for the appointment of general inspectors to assist in ensuring the proper, humane care and management of animals.

Under the Act, General inspectors have increased powers to search and enter, as well as seize animals if they suspect animals are being treated in an inappropriate manner.

Under the Act, the RSPCA, local governments, Department of Agriculture WA, Department of CALM are all given the opportunity to make nominations for general inspectors.

Currently, there are more than 170 general inspectors appointed throughout Western Australia. Now there is a comprehensive coverage of animal welfare protection across the State.

General inspectors are issued with a card for identification purposes and a sample of this is attached.
